I’ve Moved Over Here
Jan 19th, 2008 by Sally
Fiddle, Fiddle, Fiddle … I can’t leave it alone. It is a bit like scratching an itch! Here I go again, changing my blog and fiddling about. I’ve come over to Homeschooljournal.net because it is small and homespun and has great themes (go take a look, there are some LOVELY ones!)
You can’t change the colour of your font, but you can change the size and font family, it has some nice little gadgets (like youtube embed and such like) …
The only disadvantages compared to standard wordpress with wordpress.org are that you don’t get all your blogs on one dashboard (you have to sign in to different ones each time, I think), no colour text (though you can paste it in from somewhere else), and I cannot seem to import, though I can export in order to back up my blog posts and comments. That means that my old blog cannot be imported and is just linked in the page “Blog 2004-2007″.
Anyway, here I am for now, fiddling, fiddling, fiddling ………
especially because I love this SpookyBlue template!!!

For font color, if you know the HTML for it, you *can* use the code tab and put that in.
Also, under Presentation check out the Custom CSS option. If you know CSS, you should be able to override the theme there.
Do you mean compared to Wordpress.COM? Because Wordpress.org is for stand-alone websites.
We use 95% of the same code as Wordpress.com. We don’t have the dashboard-switcher installed to go form one of your blogs to the other, and you can have multiple blogs under one username. Each blog isn’t shown (yet) in the backend, but if you’re logged in to one, you have ‘em all.
The Import we’re working on too.
(There’s an Import by RSS method that does work, despite the 0 files size warning.)
We’re a homeschooling family just like everyone else here, so it takes time. (but hey! It’s educational!)
Hi, welcome to HSJ! I know that you should be able to import your other blog because I imported my old one from blogger when I moved here. Click on “manage” and then it’s the “import” option. Hope it works for you!
Totally appreciative of what you are doing Andrea, that’s why I moved over.
I’m looking forward to getting to grips with it. I love to fiddle!
Maybe when you are not too busy you can tell me where I can find the RSS method you speak of, as I seem to have the desire to be all in one place!
cheers Beth. Maybe it’s where I’m moving from? I seem to have 0 capacity in import.
looking forward to reading around everyone’s blogs here.
nice to meet you!
